While all Active Adult communities require a certain percentage of their residents to be over a certain age (usually 55), some have more strict requirements than others. This can mean that all (or very nearly all) residents are required to be above the target age, or that residents not within the target range meet special requirements (i.e. caregivers, not full-time residents). Other communtiies have more flexible rules, requiring only one of the residents of a home to fall within the target age or requiring residents to fall within a certain range (such as over 45).
